Bio 2023

Ever since singer/guitarist Ivan Lee relocated to Sonoma County in 2023 from Seattle, WA, and met up with North Bay performing songwriter Dave Monterey, it’s been a streak of sheer magic for the two of these music artists. Putting together a Northwest-Coast repertoire blend of styles and favorites is the kind of challenge that inspires moving performance…and MontereyLee brings the goods.

Balladeers and bluesy jams – they’ve got it! Who else performs hot interpretations of John Hiatt, Dire Straits, James Taylor, a classic from the Stones, the Beatles, Tom Petty, Grateful Dead, Little Feat, and add some local fare from the boys themselves. See something you like? Join us in sharing our fun. Since the Summer of 2023 MontereyLee have been playing the North Bay wine country as a duo to excellent fanfare.

A California native, Dave Monterey has been part of the North Bay music scene since playing the Inn of the Beginning and Cotati Cabaret during the mid-1970s. He’s been a lead figure in such North Bay bands as the String Rays, Ruby Moon, The Lawyers and, most recently, Heartwood Crossing. Over the years he’s opened for The Blasters, Albert Lee, Norton Buffalo, Delbert McClinton, Randy Meisner, Ricky Skaggs, Maria Muldaur and Kate Wolf.

Ivan Lee played the Seattle scene from the 80's through 2022 with an eclectic assortment of groups from acoustic duo to classic and progressive rock. Groups included The Escape, Steve Ball Roadshow and most recently IvyLane. He has performed at 100's of wineries and wine bars across the pacific northwest, many clubs and outdoor festivals including Bite of Seattle and Folklife. Ivan’s most recent CD, Sonoma, turned out to be the veritable wish upon a star that brought him here to the SF Bay Area.
